Customs seized 105kg of lithium batteries hidden in the container

A few days ago, the Outer port Customs under Shanghai Customs received feedback from the maritime authorities that the lithium batteries seized in a batch of export goods belong to the 9 dangerous goods, the United Nations number UN3480, a total of 105 kilograms.

It is reported that the inspection department 2 of the outer port Customs carried out inspection on a batch of export containers, which contained two batches of declared goods, respectively toys, hot water bottles, socks and other 25 items, a total of 9,625 kilograms. Inspection officers also found that there were 5 undeclared cartons in the container, and one carton had heat phenomenon, and there was a slight blackened and burnt mark on the outer wall. Then the carton was taken out of the container and stood for 2 minutes. After cooling treatment, the five cartons were opened and a total of 105 kilograms of undeclared lithium batteries were found.

According to the inspection requirements of dangerous goods and the joint prevention and control mechanism, the outer port customs immediately informed the safety supervision department of the port area to transfer containers and hidden goods to the isolation area for storage respectively, and issued a Joint prevention and control Support Report to the maritime affairs department. At present, the above goods have been transferred to the comprehensive department for subsequent disposal.
