The difference between IP ranking

When we buy the LED light, some will announced IP44, IP54, IP65 in the color box, what's the difference between them? 


It is the abbreviation of Ingress Protection. The IP rating is the protection level of the electrical equipment enclosure against the intrusion of foreign objects. The source is the standard IEC 60529 of the International Electrotechnical Commission, which was also adopted as the American National Standard in 2004.


The first number indicates how well a device is resistant to fine dust, or how well people are protected from hazards in a sealed environment. I represents the level of preventing the entry of solid foreign objects, and the highest level is 6;

The second number indicates how waterproof the device is. P represents the level of water protection, the highest level is 8.
