Lighting-related Customs Code Changes
Apr 22, 2022
At the end of 2021, in order to adapt to the development of international trade, the World Customs Organization (WCO) released the revised catalogue of the 2022 version of the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System, which will take effect on January 1, 2022. The adjusted "Harmonized System" deletes and replaces the relevant provisions of item 8539 for light source products and subheadings 9405.10 to 9405.60 of item 9405 for lamps and lanterns. The lamps and lighting fixtures are also presented with a separate tax heading.
After this adjustment, lighting-related HS codes have been expanded from 51 to 59. The adjustment conforms to the development trend of the lighting industry, and also makes the classification of export lighting products more refined, which is conducive to the accurate implementation of industry research and analysis.
