Analysis Of Factors Causing Power Deviation Of LED Lighting Products On The Market
Mar 08, 2023
The high incidence of "quality gate" incidents of LED lighting products is caused by a series of factors such as the lack of industry norms and supervision on the one hand, and the lack of quality awareness, design capabilities, and technological level defects of enterprises on the other hand.
Let me take a look at the reasons for the product power deviation:
First, under the pressure of cost, the production process cut corners and materials, and the necessary product testing process was omitted. Unqualified products were not eliminated from the factory, and they were sent to the market as inferior products.
Second, the heat dissipation design margin of the LED lamp bead is insufficient, the assembly process, and the deviation of the incoming material cause the lamp bead to overheat, and the forward voltage drop (Vf) to drop out of control, causing the actual power of the lamp to deviate from the lower limit.
Third, the thermal stability of the driving power source selected for the lamp is poor, and the temperature drift of the output current is large, which directly causes the power of the lamp to deviate in a large range.
Fourth, in order to reduce the procurement cost of incoming LED lamp beads, the purchase of lamp beads did not select the LED Vf distribution BIN according to the design requirements, causing the actual power consumption of the LED to deviate from the design center value.
Fifth, the optional driving power supply has low constant current accuracy (generally 5%-8%), and cannot adapt to various Vf BINs of lamp beads.
The first three reasons directly reflect the weak quality awareness of the manufacturer and have little to do with the design. The last two reasons are strongly related to the precision design of the lamp driving power supply.
