A New Round Of Business Adjustments For Many Shipping Companies Under The Epidemic!
Mar 19, 2022
Affected by the current epidemic, according to Refinitiv ship tracking data, there are currently 34 ships waiting to dock in the sea off Shenzhen, compared with an average of seven ships a year ago. About 30 ships are waiting to dock off the coast of Qingdao, compared with an average of seven last year. There has also been a marked increase in the number of vessels berthing at China's two largest ports - Shanghai and Ningbo Zhoushan - in recent days.

In a customer update yesterday, Maersk said that while the port continues to operate normally, the epidemic prevention measures have reduced the efficiency of trucking. Peter Sand, chief analyst at Xeneta, said: “The current outbreak in China and sanctions against Russia have created more uncertainty for shippers and carriers. But it is certain that congestion will increase, delays will increase, and Supply chain personnel will go to great lengths to avoid obstacles to the movement of goods.”
At present, Maersk, Mediterranean, CMA CGM, ONE, Evergreen, Wanhai, Yangming, Yixing, HMM and other shipping companies have successively issued or updated the latest business adjustment notices. In addition, the whole area of Shenzhen and Dongguan in the Pearl River Delta was closed, warehouses were closed to stop receiving goods, and many places in Dongguan implemented traffic control; in Shenzhen, there were cases of freight drivers forging nucleic acid reports. 167 expressways in Jiangsu in the Yangtze River Delta were closed, and trailers were blocked from loading containers from Shanghai.
Some warehouses in Shenzhen continued to be closed from March 15 until further notice. We provide you with an accompanying list of open warehouses to arrange for pick-up and return.
Land transportation:
The overall land traffic situation is dynamic. If the driver holds a negative nucleic acid test report required for epidemic prevention, truck transportation services can still be provided at present. Due to stricter road control and frequent nucleic acid testing, it is expected that trucking services between Shenzhen and surrounding cities will be severely affected by 30%. As a result, delivery times will be extended and transportation costs such as detours and highway tolls may increase.
Air transport:
Hong Kong: With the suspension of freight services between Hong Kong and the Mainland, barge services have become another option for transporting goods. Bookings can only be made after the goods are delivered to the Hong Kong Airport warehouse. As a result, delivery times for air freight services are longer than usual.
Shenzhen: Air freight storage and pickup services have been suspended until further notice.
During this week, the deliver of the LED Industrial is deeply effected, we hopefully it'll return normal next week.
